WORKSHOPS
About the workshops
We organise local workshops through our WOT-local platform. The aim is to make it possible for those unable or unwilling to travel to attend creative activities in their local area and of course those that wish to travel to join us are more than welcome! The workshops are put together with the same principles of professional tuition and warm rapport that characterise our holidays and retreats. They are open to all levels of expertise and focus on the development and expression of the individual's creativity and style. The workshops provide specific and practical tools that will help your writing come to life.
NEXT LONDON WORKSHOP WITH KATE NORTH : SUNDAY 11TH JULY 2010 - 11:45 to 16:15
- Creating a Character
In this workshop we will be exploring the skills and techniques writers employ when creating convincing characters. Using textual examples, writing exercises and with opportunities for discussion I will guide you through a number of approaches to building and developing character. This workshop is suitable for beginners and the more experienced.
The venue
We use different venues in London. They are all easy to get to by public transport and are chosen based on optimum comfortability standards. We always recommend early booking for workshops as these are small-group activities. You'll receive a complete info sheet when booking with all details, including travel information on how to get to the venue.

RETREATS AND HOLIDAYS
Our creative writing retreats are usually run in rural countryside accommodation ( see accommodation below ) and we stay in the same setting for the duration of the activity. The retreats include daily workshops and one-to-one tutorials.
Our Creative Writing holidays are run in different cities and offer a more complex experience. Exploration of the surroundings is complemented by daily tutorials, the focus is on sensory input, they involve guided walks and writing workshops with a view to inspiring those writers that need or are looking for a rich sensory input for a work in progress, the development of characters, setting, for a travel writing piece, or simply those that are looking for a combination of discovery and inspiration.

The views are truly inspiring, reaching as far as the eye can see into the Granada high planes via a undulating foreground of Mediterranean olive groves. Closer to the Cortijos there is a swimming-pool that can be enjoyed when the weather is hot. The immediate surrounding countryside is perfect for an easy walk or a picnic, centenary oaks provide shelter from the sun and typical Mediterranean plants and herbs abound.
