Drawing in Andalucia - 31st August to 4th September
This course revolves around using the rich textures of the surroundings, from sweeping vistas, to the knarred and twisted trunks of the olives trees, as inspiration to develop and work with various drawing methods. It is about experimentation with materials and techniques to develop each individuals creative and expressive potential and so is as suitable for complete beginners as for those wishing to build on previous experience and practice.
The workshops will concentrate on developing mark making techniques using both traditional and non traditional materials, pencil, charcoal, even the earth we walk on, while the periods of outside sketching will turn these techniques into expressive gestures and creative responses to the landscape.
For the most part this course concentrates on drawing without the use of colour, and uses only dry materials.
The daily schedule will consist of group workshops, practice of techniques and individual projects developed with the tutor. An exhibition of students work will provide the gran finale for a great creative holiday. Please write to us to request a detailed schedule.

Accommodation
We will be staying in an Andalucian farm in the border of the Granada and Jaen provinces where we'll enjoy the use of authentic Cortijo (typical Andalucian farmhouse) cottages. Each Cortijo has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, fireplace, a minimum of five double-rooms , a large dining/sitting room and an outside barbecue. The views are truly inspiring, reaching as far as the eye can see into the Granada high planes via a undulating foreground of Mediterranean olive groves. Closer to the Cortijos there is a swimming-pool that can be enjoyed when the weather is hot. The immediate surrounding countryside is perfect for an easy walk or a picnic, centenary oaks provide shelter from the sun and typical Mediterranean plants and herbs abound.
We'll share the house with the other participants. Each participant will have the sole use of a double-bedroom unless otherwise requested.
Please, visit our Gallery to view the accommodation and surrounding area.
